With the recent heatwave passing over the UK, last week was incredibly hot with Thursday being recorded as the hottest day ever in the UK. So needless to say, most of the evenings last week were spent outside, starting off on Monday with a tasty steak braai :)

Uns and I had decided to take Wednesday off work and go to the cricket at Lord's, the first ever test match between England and Ireland. After dropping missy at nursery, we continued up the hill with Mia for a quick loop around Telegraph Hill Park before dropping her back home and we made our way over to Lord's. The weather was crazy hot, so luckily we had seats in the stands undercover which was handy. After England collapsed and could only make 85 all out, Ireland managed a score of almost 200 before we left to head home and pick up Ellen. Since it was nice and warm around that time, we headed up to the park for a bit of fun on the swings and slide before heading home and chilling out in the garden that evening.

On Thursday the mercury hit 38.7°C up in Cambridge, and with London only just under that, so needless to say none of us are quite used to that here! I popped out at lunchtime for a walk up to Charterhouse Square, but certainly couldn't sit in the direct sun for too long :) At least Uns was off work with Ellen and at home today, so she spent her day inside avoiding the direct heat too!

By Saturday the heatwave and temperatures had subsided a bit, so after a morning at home, we then made our way up towards Telegraph Hill that afternoon for the Monkey Puzzle summer BBQ they were hosting. We stayed up there a couple of hours, which Ellen seemed to enjoy herself missioning around.

Yesterday morning we all popped over to Peckham Rye Park for brunch at the café, some time on the slides and swings and then a walk over to the ducks and the Japanese gardens, before heading home for the rest of the afternoon.
