This past weekend we spent away down near Tunbridge Wells at the Black Deer Festival, an American & Country music festival. It was also our first time camping with Ellen :) On Friday morning, before leaving, Una had her driving test and passed it first time, so that was an exciting start to the weekend! Once she was back home, we headed off down to Kent and arrived at the festival early afternoon. We had decided to go for the fancy glamping option, so no tent setup needed, it was all ready for us, just had to unpack our stuff and set up missy's travel cot, so nice and easy. That afternoon we chilled out around camp and the festival grounds, watching a few bands and acoustic sets, which Ellen really seemed to enjoy. The food choices there were amazing, a lot of deep south American-style smoked meats and cookouts and other deliciousness. Certainly not your average or cheap festival burger vans!
On Saturday we spent most of the day around the festival grounds, wandering around watching some of the bands and the acoustic sets in the smaller tents. During Ellen's nap we made our way back to the campsite and chilled out in the entrance area which was cooler and nice and quiet too. After a good afternoon around the grounds and music stages, we stayed out longer than usual, but hardly seemed a problem with Ellen loving the atmosphere and lights and music :)
Sunday was a similar day to Saturday, with the weather once again being nice and warm, perfect for a festival and certainly made the camping much easier for us!
After packing up this morning and loading up the car, we left the festival grounds around late morning and drove to Royal Tunbridge Wells for lunch at Bills. After a bite to eat there, we headed off and took a scenic drive home via Sevenoaks and Otford while Ellen had her midday sleep in the car. We got home late this afternoon after a really nice weekend away, and then I've only got two and a half days of work this week before I'm off to San Sebastian for Wolf's stag this Thursday afternoon :)
