Last week Wednesday morning Uns and I drove up from West Cork and over to Fota Island, which is about half an hour east of Cork. We had booked into Fota Island Resort for a night, but before checking in we decided to pop down to Cobh for a quick look around and after stopping briefly along the promenade, we then headed back to Fota Island Resort and checked in. After some time down at the pool, we then had our spa treatments booked in later in the afternoon, and then dinner that evening down in the children's playground bar area.

On Thursday morning after breakfast, we checked out and drove over to Claire and Michael's place and spent the afternoon at theirs. That evening we had dinner booked in at Holy Smoke in town which was recommended to me by Gav, and even though it was rather quiet (apparently not usually so), it was really good - mainly smoked and BBQ meats, which I'm always a fan of :)

We spent most of Friday morning at their place, and then drove down west early afternoon, followed by a spin around the coast and then a drive down to Baltimore, but because of the rain we didn't manage to get out of the car at all.

Saturday was a rather quiet day, Uns was out in the morning catching up with Aine and Lorraine, and later on we took a spin around the coast again - always quite dramatic with the rainy weather. Sunday was another rainy and stormy day, and after a brief spin that afternoon, we decided against going out for new years eve and just chilled at home in front of the fire and the TV to see the new year in. So a very happy new year to everyone and here's a look back on "Smiles of 2017", courtesy of my Google Photos...

Yesterday turned out to be our first (and only) sunny day, and after stopping in at Anthony and Lui for a visit, we drove up to Cork Airport and were met there by Claire and Jack who'd come to see us off. We grabbed a coffee there, and after some time with them we then made our way through security to catch our flight back home.

Both Uns and myself had taken the day off work today so we could head down to fetch Mia this morning and then figured we'd have the afternoon at home before heading back to work tomorrow. Little pooch was super excited to see us, but think she had a great time down there on her holidays. Was nice to have had today off, and then it's back to the commuting and working routine again tomorrow...
