On Tuesday this week the folks made their way up from Walton to spend a few days with us in London. That evening we had dinner at home and a rather relaxing night in.

On Wednesday, I'd taken a half day at work, so after finishing up at lunch time, I made my way over to North Greenwich were I met the folks and first took a brief walk through the O2 and then over to the Emirates Air Line for our cable car crossing over the Thames from the Greenwich Peninsula to the Royal Docks. We didn't have any set plans while around the docks, so took a walk down towards the Excel Centre and up over the Royal Victoria Bridge for a bit of the view looking towards London City Airport.

From the Royal Docks we made our way into town, through Leicester Square and stopped in at the Lego Store for a look around and then onto Waxy O'Connor's for a quick drink there. After the one beer there, it was over to Piccadilly Circus to Brasserie Zedel where we met Uns at the American Bar for a cocktail and also joined by Keith who'd stopped by to say hi. After a drink in the bar area, we moved over to the restaurant for a nice meal there, and as always, certainly ate too much :)

I'd taken yesterday afternoon off as well, so once done at lunch time I made my way down to London Bridge where I met the folks and we headed over to 20 Fenchurch Street for our visit to the Sky Garden. It had been over two years since I was last there, and the last time the folks were over I wasn't able to get tickets, so they were certainly looking forward to going up and seeing the views from the top. We spent the good bit of an hour and a half up there, walking around the perimeter as well as admiring the view from the balcony - you never do get tired of the London skyline :)

From the Sky Garden we walked back over London Bridge, not so pleasant with the gusting wind though, and made our way through Borough Market, along the river and to the Tate Modern, where we went up the Blavatnik Building to the viewing deck on top which has good views looking over towards St Paul's Cathedral and the city. Once we'd done a full walk around the viewing platform, we headed down and popped over to the Founders Arms pub for a couple of beers before making our way to The Anchor for some fish and chips for dinner, before heading home.

They're heading off back to Greg's place today after a few days in London - think they enjoyed their time up in the big smoke, and glad we eventually managed to get to the Sky Garden this time round.
