After a quick stop in at the Three Compasses on Friday evening after work for a beer, I then headed home and Uns and I had a nice quiet night in - ordering a takeaway and watching a movie.

Then on Saturday morning we made our way into town for breakfast at Fortnum & Mason's 45 Jermyn Street restaurant, where old-school glamour meets contemporary London in the heart of St. James'. I had been there once before when I met the work guys after getting back from our wedding and honeymoon, and we had organised a day out in town before Shannon headed back to Australia. After a really nice breakfast there on Saturday morning, we then decided to walk around Fortnum & Mason a bit, I do love how old-school and traditionally English it is in there :) After browsing the store for some time, we made our way over to Trafalgar Square and sat there while enjoying a coffee. After a bit of time in Trafalgar Square, including a sudden and rather unexpected rain shower, we then headed home for the afternoon.

Later on that evening I made my way through to Southwark for Will's birthday dinner which he had organised at the Baltic Restaurant and Bar. I met up with him, Aggie and Oli beforehand at The Ring Bar and then moved next door to the restaurant where everyone else joined us. We all had the set menu which was very good, a nice mix of Polish dishes (including the customary vodka shots) and then afterwards all headed back to The Ring Bar for a few beers there before calling it a night and heading home.

Yesterday we spent the day around the house and mainly outside in the garden tidying up there. I was feeling a bit fragile and sorry for myself, but an afternoon outdoors did me a world a good. Then later on yesterday, Uns and I made our way over to Greenwich for the Greenwich Comedy Festival which was running over a few days in September. Once we got to Greenwich, we quickly grabbed a bite to eat at Goddards traditional pie and mash, then over to the marquee tent near by the National Maritime Museum for the comedy show. Last night had Dara O'Briain headlining, but the night also featured Stephen K Amos, Glenn Wool and Jarred Christmas as MC. Really was a funny night out, and comedy definitely the best way to avoid the Sunday night blues :)

Last night after work we had organised a Monday evening steak night over at The Butcher & Grill who do half price steaks on Mondays - always a winner! After meeting up with Will and Mark at the Draft House for a beer, Mr Shit then joined us and we headed over to The Butcher & Grill for dinner. After dinner there we returned to the Draft House for a beer and then all called it a night and headed home.

Not too much planned for the next few nights, just a bit of prep around the house before the folks arrive over on Saturday morning for a couple of weeks in the UK :)
