Last week, on Monday after work, I met up with Tom and Paul "Ham Quorn and Cheese" for a couple of catch up beers near to Liverpool Street. Paul was passing through London for a couple of days on his way to the Caribbean in search of some sailing work, so was good to catch up with him again while he was in town. He and Tom had been out and about in town for the day and we'd planned it so I'd meet up with them after work, starting off at the American Diner in Spitalfields Market and then to Bleecker Burger for a bite to eat, except they scuppered us and have taken the Bleecker Black off the menu :( It's just temporary, apparently, while they deal with the FSA and their regulations - so hopefully it'll be back on the menu again soon!
Then on Tuesday it was Una's birthday, so after work her and I met up and headed out to Westbourne Park in Notting Hill. We had dinner reservations for a bit later on, so decided to first stop in for a glass of wine at Cépages Wine Bistro and then moved onto Marianne's restaurant. We'd seen Marianne on a Saturday morning cooking show and I decided to book us in for dinner at her restaurant. It was proper pricey fine dining, especially with such a small restaurant capacity of only 14 people in there, but really had a nice evening. The food itself was really good, the wine pairing not so much though, but still a good night out.
On Friday night, the work lads had organised dinner and a few drinks after work, so once done with the day, myself, Marty and Allen headed over to King's Cross and we met up with JJ at The Lighterman on Granary Square, and later joined by Matt and Ieuan. Since it was nice and sunny, we found ourselves a decent spot outside for a couple of beers there until heading over to Karpo Grill restaurant for a bit of steak for dinner. Once done with dinner, we moved over to the Big Chill House for a couple of hours and then to Drink, Shop & Do before I called it a night and headed home.
Saturday and yesterday were rather quiet days around the house - we had the grass edging finished off on Saturday, then yesterday myself and Uns popped down to the Peckham Rye farmers market and spent the afternoon relaxing outside at home in the sunny weather, well deserved after a fairly busy week gone by.
