Last weekend's weather was exceptionally mild, so on Saturday morning we were mostly outside in the garden getting bits and pieces done, and then the afternoon we had the rugby on - first was the Lions vs the Reds game which the Lions won 44-14, followed by the Ireland vs England game which Ireland won 13-9 to stop England winning a second successive Grand Slam, even though they still managed to take the title. So a good afternoon of rugby. Then on Sunday morning we decided to pop over to Meet District for brunch. They'd been open a few weeks but hadn't gotten around to going there yet, so decided to try it out on Sunday. After brunch there, we headed back home and spent the afternoon around the house and in the garden, enjoying the mild weather outside!
On Wednesday evening we had dinner booked at Frenchie in Covent Garden. The original Frenchie in Paris has always been one of highly rated restaurants in Paris and after opening one in Covent Garden, it won the BMW Squaremeal Award for Best Restaurant of the Year. So we figured we'd check it out last Wednesday. After meeting Uns at Covent Garden, we headed up to Punch & Judy for a quick pre-dinner drink, and then over to the restaurant. The dinner was fantastic, could definitely see us going back again. After getting our way through all three tasty courses, we thought we'd stop in at The American Bar at The Savoy for a cheeky Old Fashioned (or two) which always go down well. Once they'd closed up, we thought we'd stop and have a look at the other bar, The Beaufort Bar, on the way out, and landed up getting talked into a quick drink there, where Tom Jones was also enjoying a drink... so our second celebrity spot in as many weeks :) After one there we then decided to call it a night and headed home.
On Friday after work, I joined the lads for a couple of quick ones over at Floripa just by the office before heading over to South Ken to meet up with Uns before the Robots Expo at the Science Museum. We had seen the advert for it and decided to book the Friday night late slot and go check out the history of robots, from early days to the current ones. Really interesting expo, probably not quite as interactive with the robots as I'd quite hoped, but good to follow the history of the advancements of them over the years.
After a couple of hours at the expo, we stopped in at Kensington Crepes for a dessert crepe each, and then made our way home. Then both yesterday and today were again really mild outside so we did a bit more work outside in the garden, followed by the first braai of the year at home... always a noteworthy event :)
I know my last few posts have all gone on about the mild weather, but it really is so warm, especially for March. Obviously it could drastically change for April and May, but here's hoping this is a nice warm lead in to the summer this year!
