After a rather quiet couple of nights towards the end of last week, Saturday morning was busy enough with Matt coming around to finish off the concrete base outside. There wasn't too much to finish off, so didn't take that long at all - much quicker than I expected! At least we're done with that for now, just need to remove the wooden box frame around the edges and then get it tiled - but might save that for early next year.

The plan after laying the concrete was originally to light up the Weber for a braai for lunch with Matt, but he was done well before lunch time, but without missing an opportunity for a braai, myself and Uns still grilled a couple of steaks for ourselves for a late lunch. That evening we decided to head up to Telegraph Hill for the fireworks - they weren't having any display there but we figured we'd get a bit of a view of other displays around the city from there. After most of the shows were over with, we stopped in at Skehans to watch the Ireland vs New Zealand game which was being played in Chicago, with Ireland winning by an incredible 40 points to New Zealand's 29 - their first ever win over New Zealand in the 111-year history.

On Sunday afternoon Uns had to suddenly head off to Heathrow and fly back to Cork for a bit, so it'll be a fairly quiet few days at home this week with no plans at all before the weekend.
