This past week myself and Uns were out in Albufeira on a well earned and very relaxing week in the sun, on the beach and by the pool! We flew out early last week Wednesday morning from Gatwick to Faro and then taxi down to Hotel Vicente, which is slightly west of the town centre where we stayed last time. After checking into the hotel, we grabbed lunch at Cabana Fresca, spent the afternoon by the pool as well as down on the beach, and then dinner that night at Mi Sombrero. I ordered (not surprisingly) the tex-mex grill and overheard my favourite quote from the guy sitting next to us who was struggling through his tex-mex grill, referring to me: "that dude over there smashed his". Great success I'd say! Then after dinner we stopped in at Bar 7½ on "Bar Street" for a little while there before heading back to the hotel.
Thursday we spent the morning by the pool, had lunch at O Penedo outside on the terrace, the afternoon down on the beach and then dinner at Casa del Mar. On Friday we spent the day down on the beach again and got ourselves a couple of sun beds for the day. We grabbed lunch at Mi Sombrero and dinner that night at Cabana Fresca, with some music afterwards at Bar 7½.
Saturday morning we spent around the pool, lunch at O Penedo outside on the terrace again, and then the afternoon down on the beach. We decided on Cafe Oceano for dinner that night, followed by Las Vegas Bar for a couple of beers afterwards. Sunday was another similar day, pool in the morning, lunch at Hotel Sol E Mar downtown beachclub bar then the afternoon on the beach. For dinner we returned to Mi Sombrero for the hot stone steak - another favourite of ours :)
Monday was no different to the other days - pool in the morning, O Penedo for lunch and then the beach for the afternoon. Certainly a routine I'm happy to get used to :) That evening we took a stroll along the beach, first to check out the diggers by the pier (much to Una's delight) and then dinner at Cabana Fresca where we treated ourselves to a delicious lobster. After dinner we stopped in at Bar 7½ again for a little while before calling it a night.
Tuesday morning we were woken up by rain and thunderstorms which we weren't exactly expecting on our summer holidays. But at least it was early enough to give us a bit of a lie in before breakfast and then down to the beach for the day, with lunch upstairs at Ricardo's Pizzaria. I'm guessing that because of the storm, the waves were bigger than usual and fairly decent for a bit of body surfing which made my afternoon, along with building an awesome sand castle :) After dinner that evening at Cabana Fresca we stopped in at Portas Da Vila Bar for a couple there before heading back to the hotel.
With yesterday being our last day there, we got up early to watch the sunrise, spent the morning by the pool, lunch at Hotel Sol E Mar downtown beachclub bar and then a bit of the afternoon on the beach. After maximising our sun and beach time, we headed back to the hotel to get changed and then catch our taxi over to the airport for our flight back to London last night.
The first day back from holidays is always a bit slow, but we're having amazing weather here in London which makes getting back a bit easier, but then also makes everyone want to skip work and hit the pubs parks instead! Hopefully the sunny weather stays around for some time still :)
