On Thursday evening last week I met Uns after work by my office and we decided to head up Kingsland Road towards Regents Canal. Since the weather was lovely and warm we took a stroll down the canal, westwards, towards Angel direction and then back again before trying Duke's Brew & Que which unfortunately was fully booked out so we landed up trying BIRD for dinner which looked fairly new with a decent menu.

On Friday we finished up at work a bit earlier because of the nice weather, and figured it made more sense to grab a few beers in a beer garden instead of sitting in the office :) So we popped over to the Crown and Shuttle for a few and then I headed home. Uns and I had done half the painting in the kitchen during the week so figured we'd finish that off and then headed to Kitchen 54 for dinner.

On Saturday myself and Uns made our way into London Bridge for a walk around Borough Market and pick up a few things there, as well as a couple of steaks from Ginger Pig for a braai. Once back from Borough, Uns headed into Mayfair for lunch with the girls at Quaglinos while I popped into Peckham to do a bit of last minute birthday shopping for a few things I still needed for Uns' birthday. Once she was back home from her lunch and had opened her Peckham themed print and card, we headed out to Bar Story by Peckham Rye for a couple of cocktails to start off in the warm afternoon sun. Then from Bar Story we caught a taxi over to Old Kent Road to the Euro traveller hotel a Peckham hotel which, in hindsight, was a pretty awful idea. The thinking behind my plan was to keep everything Peckham themed and since Una had always mentioned/joked about staying there, I figured I'd book us in for a night. But didn't realise just quite how horrible basic it was :(

After we checked in and dropped our bags, we caught a bus down to the Nigerian restaurant 805, the restaurant that John Boyega took Harrison Ford to sometime last year when he was showing him around his home town of Peckham. We'd heard the story on the Graham Norton show and often wondered where it was, so that's why I decided to book it in and try it out. After dinner it was back to the hotel and then a (very) early check out on Sunday morning and headed home.

Since Sunday was so warm and summer-like, we figured we'd spent the day just chilling in the garden, and maximising the sun. That evening we fired up the Weber to braai those Ginger Pig steaks - the first braai of the year at home :) The weather this week isn't meant to be great but at least the weekend was good. Last night, for Una's actual birthday we had originally planned to meet Guy and Melissa but didn't hear back from them so myself and Uns decided on the Montague Arms near home for dinner and a chilled night in.
