On Wednesday evening last week we had Matt and Bee over for dinner and to chat to Matt about our plans for a new log cabin and how to go about throwing down some concrete for a base for it. I guess once we've decided on a log cabin and got the dimensions, we'll get Matt over some Saturday and get working on that. At least for now he sounds keen to help :)

Then on Friday evening a few of us from work had tickets for the Crystal Maze which they'd brought to Kings Cross after a well funded Kickstarter project, so after work myself and JJ walked over to Angel and grabbed a beer at The Pig and Butcher while we waited for everyone else to finish and meet up with us. I had originally said yes to going to it, then Uns reminded me it was our wedding anniversary weekend and we'd be in Ireland (oops) but after checking prices of flights we decided to stay local, so I was back in with the Crystal Maze event (with the wife's permission of course). The Maze was brilliant - even though I couldn't really compare it to the original TV show while the others could, I still thought it was good fun and something different for a Friday evening. The only downside was our team coming second and not actually winning on the night! Oh well. After the Maze we headed back to The Pig and Butcher pub for one more and then decided on a change of venue to The Winchester pub on Essex Road.

On Saturday we decide to get a bit more painting done around the house, followed by an early dinner at Kitchen 54 and then a casual stroll around Peckham down to Brimmington Park and back.

Since yesterday was our actual anniversary day, we had decided to check into The Shangri-La Hotel at The Shard for a night and treat ourselves to a fancy night away, but not too far from home :) After checking in and dropping our bags we decided on a cocktail at Gong upstairs, followed by a swim in the pool. After some time relaxing by the pool and swimming, we got ready, and made our way down to Ting for dinner. After our meal and a cocktail, we headed back to the room and chilled out by the window overlooking the night lights of a London :)

Yesterday morning we were up fairly early to watch the morning sky lighten up the city (unfortunately it was too cloudy to see a decent sunrise) but once the pool opened we were straight up there and spent the morning relaxing around and in the pool, until midday when we unfortunately had to check out. At least the journey home after checking out was only a couple of stops on the train! :)
