On Friday after work I headed to the bar at The Jones Family Project for a couple of beers with a few of the guys from work before heading home to chill out for the evening. Then Saturday morning we were up fairly early for Meegs to come over and drop a few bags at ours. They were planning to stay with us a few weeks before moving to Australia so planned to pop round and drop a few things off at ours before moving out their place. Once she'd been and gone, myself and Uns headed through to Paddington, met up with Duncan and Laurie and got our train to Shiplake, just south of Henley and checked into The Baskerville hotel.

The reason we were down in Henley was for a Chateau Marmot dining experience which Duncs and Laurie had bought tickets for. Basically, Chateau Marmot roams the UK creating beautiful temporary dining experiences that bring the creativity and excitement of eating in the best restaurants to unexpected locations. They work only with chefs from well known restaurants to create tasting menus that dramatically showcase the time and place they were created. Our location for dinner that night was in a stunning woodland hunting lodge, accessed up a private, tree lined drive and tucked away amongst the trees.

After we had checked in and dropped our bags in our rooms, we met downstairs for lunch and to watch the Ireland vs France rugby game which unfortunately resulted in France winning by only a single point - 10 points to 9. Then after the game and a quick change of clothes we caught a taxi over to the Woodland Hunting Lodge for our seven course meal with wine pairing, all cooked by top Australian chef Tim 'Tonto' Yates using game from the estate and local producers in the region. It really was a good night out there, plenty of good food and wine to match, followed by a few post-dinner cocktails.

Yesterday morning started off with breakfast (not sure how any of us were even hungry), then checked out and made our way back to London by train and finished off the weekend chilling out on the couch :)
