Wow, been a while since I've skipped a week in my updates, but actually managed a fairly quiet weekend here, a first in a very long time! I was out the Friday before last, stopping in after work at The Bookclub for a quick couple before heading home. We were then both out in Stratford on Saturday for the day for a bit of shopping, and then some brunch on Sunday morning at the Blackbird Bakery, but otherwise not a lot that weekend, which was perfect!
This weekend just gone was a bit busier with Claire over from Cork for a few days. She arrived Friday afternoon so Uns headed out to meet up with her. It was Yannick's last day at work so we had organised a few farewell drinks at the Blues Kitchen. After a few there, and even though I was tempted to stay on, glad I didn't and instead caught a taxi over to the Vaults at Waterloo for the underground cinema. There I met up with Uns, Claire, Noel and Megan just in time for a bite to eat there before the start of Jurassic World.
On Saturday morning we headed into Borough Market for breakfast upstairs up Roast (courtesy of Biddy) which always goes down well. After a good feed there, I left Uns and Claire to do their own thing around town while I headed home to chill out for the afternoon. Later that evening, after all getting dressed up for the night we headed into town and while the girls went for (late) afternoon tea at the Ritz, myself and Noel headed down to Pizza Express for dinner, made even better with the "metro" offer :) After dinner while waiting for the girls to finish we popped across the road to The Guinea Grill for a pint and then headed down to the Ritz and landed up staying there for a couple... basically a couple is all we could afford! :) The girls did spot Anna Wintour leaving the hotel, which was a great bit of excitement for them, but didn't come close to the joy of our "metro" offer at Pizza Express from earlier in the night! From the Ritz it was a short walk over to Fifty9 Bar which was only average, but still open which is all we were bothered about. After sometime there we decided to call it a night and cruised on home.
For lunch yesterday, JP had suggested we all meet up but since Claire was flying back yesterday afternoon, her and Uns did their own thing while I headed out to East Dulwich and met up with JP, Laura, Andrew, Sula, Jason, Amy, Hais and Charlene. Was good to catch up with everyone over lunch, a lot more chilled out than an after-work beers session, but good afternoon nonetheless. Afterwards I headed back home, roughly the same time as Uns and we both just chilled out in front of the TV last night.
