Back in August when we last went camping with Andrew and Sula we said we'd try organise another camping weekend away before the winter months kick in, and the only free weekend we could all do with was this one just gone by. So late last week when we knew the weather would be OK (just cold but at least no rain) we all decided to go ahead with it and head down to Evergreen Farm Woodland Campsite in West Sussex. On Friday after work I dashed home, grab the camping gear and headed off to the train, meeting up with Uns at East Croydon and then making our way down to East Grinstead. After getting a taxi from the station, we arrived and set up camp, followed by Andrew and Sula who had driven down and weren't all that far behind us. Once set up, we lit the fire and the BBQ for the night and spent it sitting around there.

On Saturday morning after breakfast and a bit of pottering around the campsite we took a drive over to Ashdown Forest for a walk through Hundred Acre Wood, where the Winnie the Pooh books were based on. There we did the "Pooh Walk" from Gills Lap which was a fairly short but scenic loop through the woods and to The Enchanted Place, the Sandy Pit, North Pole and Eeyore's Sad and Gloomy Place and finally back to the car. Even though it's probably focused more for children and those more into Winnie the Pooh, it got us out the campsite and a bit of a walk in the open, which was exactly what we wanted.

For lunch we stopped in at the Java & Jazz Cafe, followed by the Chequers Inn Hotel pub next door for the second half of the Australia vs Wales game which resulted in Australia winning by 15 points to 6. Once done with the game we headed back to camp, fired up the campfire and the BBQ for the evening and spent the remainder of the night there. It didn't feel quite as cold on Saturday night as it did on Friday night, or maybe we were just better prepared for it!

Yesterday morning after breakfast and a bit of sitting around the fire, we packed up camp, got dropped off at East Grinstead by Sula and Andrew and headed back home on the train, getting back in good time for the Ireland vs France game which we just watch at home, resulting in Ireland beating the French by 24 points to 9. As always, a good relaxing camping weekend away.
