On Tuesday night Haig and Caitlin came up from Brighton to stay over at our place as they too had tickets for the SA vs USA game which was yesterday afternoon. After arriving at ours and dropping their bags, we headed over to the Montague for dinner and a drink there. The weather was real miserable so had no interest in venturing too far. Plus the Monty always does a decent pie and mash and pint!

Then yesterday, after a half day at work, I left the office and headed over to Stratford and met Duncs, Laurie, Haig, Caitlin and a few of Duncan's friends at the Goose pub, just behind the Stratford Centre. We all grabbed a bite to eat there and then made our way over to the stadium. We decided against the fanzone as it looked super busy and didn't have all that much time, so instead made our way to our seats. By then Uns had arrived and met up with me - she wasn't able to get off early but still made it there in time for kickoff.

I'd always hoped for a decent win against the States, but everyone knows what happened against Japan so you could never be too sure. But as it turned out we won 64-0 against them, including 10 tries, resulting in the biggest winning margin in this World Cup so far. After the game, instead of battling with the crowds around Stratford looking for a place to get a drink, we headed into London Bridge and grabbed a couple of beers at The Wheatsheaf next to Borough Market with Duncs, Laurie, Mark, Shawn and Stacey.

They had the Namibia vs Georgia game on the TV which didn't sound like much of a game to follow but landed up coming down right to the last few minutes with Namibia just unable to pass Georgia and lost by 16 points to 17 - so close! Pretty exciting for a game that didn't sound like it would offer much. After the game and a couple more hours at The Wheatsheaf, we left there and all parted ways home.
