On Friday night I met up with Uns at Kings Cross before our train up to Stamford for Gav and Jane's wedding. Since we had some time there before our departure we decided on Granger & Co for dinner. After dinner we caught the train and headed up to Stamford via Peterborough, getting in around half nine. We had booked an Airbnb apartment for the weekend which was about a 10 minute walk from the station. Once we had dropped our bags we decided against meeting up with the wedding crowd as it was a bit late so instead popped down the road to The Jolly Brewer for one, and turned out they were having a beer fest with live music all weekend. Was tempting to stay but decided to call it a night after just the one there and save ourselves for the Saturday instead.

After a bit of a sleep in on Saturday morning, we got ourselves ready and hopped in a taxi down to the George Hotel where the wedding was taking place. It was a nice smallish wedding with about 50 people in total. After the ceremony in the hotel, we went for drinks outside in the gardens and then up to the dining hall for dinner. The food was really good which we'd always guessed, being Gav and Jane. After dinner it was over to the evening reception where they had a brass band followed by a DJ to finish up the night.

Yesterday after checking out around midday we took a stroll through the town centre and made our way up the hill towards the William Cecil pub where we had booked in for Sunday lunch. We did stop off along the way to check out the house prices in the windows of a few of the local property agents, where I spotted a castle for sale which obviously got my attention :) My excitement at the though of an actual castle for sale seemed very one sided, but hopefully over time Uns might start to understand and reconsider! As they say, persistence overcomes resistance, so we'll see :) Anyway, we continued over to the William Cecil pub and enjoyed our Sunday roast in their outside garden area. Then once done with lunch we made our way back to the train station, caught a replacement bus down to Peterborough and then finally home.

After dropping our bags and chilling for at home for a couple of hours, we left and headed over to the Peckham's multi-story car park (where Franks Campari Bar is) to watch an orchestral performance by The Living Programme Note, which we had bought tickets for ages ago. Taken from their website - The Living Programme Note is an experience that will take place across four levels of the car park: the musicians of The Multi-Story Orchestra will take the audience through an encounter with Beethoven's Symphony No. 7, culminating in a full performance of the piece.

After watching the symphony in full which lasts for a non-stop running total of 41 minutes, we decided to pass on a drink upstairs and rather head home to get some much needed rest after the weekend. That now brings us to one more wedding left for this year in December, but before that it's the Rugby World Cup so certainly no downtime anytime soon :)
