Last Wednesday evening after work I headed out to Charing Cross and met up with Una for a quick bite to eat at Five Guys. From there we walked over towards Piccadilly Circus and up to the Theatre Royal Haymarket for the Elephant Man which was starring Bradley Cooper as Joseph Merrick. It had been a while since we'd been to the theatre and even with the nose-bleed seats we both enjoyed the show - certainly better than musicals I think (Book of Mormon aside). After the show we popped around the back to try stop the Coops leave before calling it a night and heading home.
On Thursday we both stayed in at home, even though it was a lovely evening outside, waiting for our wedding gift list delivery from John Lewis which never arrived. Apparently the driver wouldn't have made it back into London in time so had to postpone that to Saturday instead. On Friday I had been invited to Epsom with the work crowd so made my way down to Surbiton where we all met up then got a bus over to Epsom Downs Racecourse. It was a good sunny day out there and after losing my bets in the first couple of races, I came back strong with the next few and won a bit over 450 quid at the end. I did also lose a good chunk but probably cleared £280 in the end, plus getting paid for a day's wage - not bad at all for a Friday :)
On Saturday Uns was out early into town to meet up with the girls first for their brunch then out to Anna's baby shower. I didn't have much planned for the day, just a bit of work and sorting out around the house then both chilled out at home that evening. Yesterday was the first braai at home of the year, the braai before that was down in Ashurst not didn't really count when it's in a bucket :) Since Anna had had her baby shower, I thought I'd invite Tom, Will and Oli round for lunch so spent the day yesterday braaing at home and hanging with them.
Hopefully there'll be a few more afternoons of braais coming up, it's just trying to fit them all in with the busy summer we've got coming up! Starting off with this weekend with Orla and James' wedding, but at least it's only a four day week which is always a winner! :)
