Last Thursday we had organised for Dan to come round for dinner at ours. It had been ages since we'd last seen him - probably dinner with him and Emma back in February. Dinner was awesome - Uns had put together an oxtail stew followed by a cheesecake for the three of us :)
Then on Friday the guys and myself decided to try out Haché Burgers for lunch and followed that on with our Friday meeting over at the Barley Mow instead of heading back to the office. By the time the end of day came around we decided to head straight across the road to the Blues Kitchen for Aaron's leaving drinks. I only stayed around for a couple before heading down to Victoria and met up with Uns and headed over to Tozi, a Venetian tapas bar and restaurant. It was Robbie's surprise birthday which Gillean had organised and since we weren't sure who was going we grabbed ourselves a drink in the bar area and waited for them to arrive. As it turned out there was a fairly large crowd already there round the back, not just dinner them as we first guessed. After dinner, the last of us that were still left made our way next door to the residence bar for a couple more before calling it a night and attempting our struggle home.
On Saturday morning I headed through to Borough Market to meet up with Tom and Anna for a bit of a walk around the market. It had been ages since I'd last seen them, so good to catch up and get some Borough Market favourites like Monmouth Coffee and The Guildable Manor.
From the market I made my way home and instead of heading through to Porterhouse to meet James, we decided to watch it at home instead, so he made his way around to ours for the afternoon. The first game was England New Zealand so a good build up to the main match later on. Once the game was done we missioned down to the trains and headed over to Putney and met the other guys down at the Larrik Inn for the Ireland South Africa match which I was fairly confident we'd win. Except it didn't quite go according to plan with Ireland beating us by 29 points to 15. I can handle the loss as long as we beat England next Saturday :)
After the rugby we headed up to El Patron, a new Mexican restaurant in Putney opposite The Fez which opened a month or so back. The cocktails and food there were good, it was just the service which was awful. Maybe it was because we were a table of almost 20 people or maybe that they were fairly new, but they need to brush up on that sooner rather than later. After eating, we decided to pop downstairs to the club/bar/dance floor for a few beers before heading over to the Railway and then calling it a night.
Yesterday was just a lazy Sunday at home and then this morning Uns and myself decided to get up really early and head into town to go see sunrise at the Tower of London and the Poppies. We'd both seen the poppies in either the dark or the fading light, so decided to get there at the break off dawn.
It was fairly busy around the Tower which was half expected since they were only going to be there until tomorrow sometime. We took a walk around the Tower and got to see them in their full glory despite the crowds which at least wasn't anywhere near as bad as over the weekend, plus it was quite nice seeing the sunset from Tower Bridge :)
