This past weekend was Andrew and Sula's wedding which was in London, mine and Una's first London wedding. It was quite nice to have it just up the road basically, no big travel plans involved. On Saturday morning we headed into town to the National Theatre and got there in time for the 12h30 ceremony and met up with the Spo crowd as well as the current work crowd. The ceremony was above the National Theatre at The Deck which overlooked the river spanning from the Houses of Parliament all the way over to St. Paul's. They were very lucky with the weather, perfectly clear blue skies and the mercury hitting 21C apparently, amazing for November! After the ceremony we all had a few drinks on the terrace outside overlooking the south bank. nge
From the ceremony they had hired two to Routemaster buses to take us across to Kings Cross via a scenic tour of London held the Monument, London Bridge, Tower Bridge, St Paul's and then over to Smithy's Restaurant & Wine Bar restaurant near to Kings Cross where the reception was held. We had the venue until 1am which was perfect, a great afternoon and evening of food, drinks, dancing and catching up with the old Spo crowd! nge
After a quick stop at McD's we struggled to get a taxi home and eventually settled on a bus which went passed Peckham - great until you land up in Crystal Palace. Idiots. At least the bus driver was helpful enough to tell us to wait the 10 minutes and we'd be heading back past Peckham anyway. Good times! Yesterday was just a very, very lazy day around the house, made even worse by the massive change in temperature outside. From a nice 21°C on Saturday to a miserable, cold and wet 12°C yesterday but it made it easier to laze around at home doing very little. Still, a good weekend and a great wedding on Saturday!
