Last Wednesday night Uns and myself had booked tickets to the outdoor Rooftop Film Club by Peckham Rye to go watch Mrs. Doubtfire which seemed appropriate after the tragic news of Robin Williams last week. So after work on Wednesday we met up at home, packed a couple of blankets and headed off first to the Montague to grab something to eat then over to Peckham Rye in time for the movie. It's on top of the old Bussey Building which is now the area's leading centres for the creative arts and has an open top roof terrace with fantastic 360 degree views of London. No idea when last I would've seen the movie, but still so funny even after all these years. After the movie we headed home and tried to pop into Beer Rebellion but got there just after it closed so will have to try it out on the weekend instead.
Then Friday night we never had any plans, but after dinner at home we decided to pop out to Beer Rebellion for a cheeky one down there. Since we were just too late last Wednesday night and never made it there, we thought we had to try once again and at least this time we made it in in good time.
After some DIY and house admin on Saturday day, Noel and Megan came round to ours late afternoon for our night out in Peckham. After a couple of drinks at home, we headed over to the Montague Arms and then to Beer Rebellion for one at each before catching a bus over to Bellenden Road to Peckhamburger which we'd been wanting to try for sometime.
After eating there, we walked down to Four Quarters, a new old-school arcade bar which opened back in June. As much as there was a good selection of games, we stuck with the classic Pac-Man and Mario Kart upstairs. I was fairly useless at everything, but managed to beat Noel right at the end during our sudden-death, which is when it counted :) From the Four Quarters we headed home, with a quick stop in at Lions on the way :/
On Sunday morning, after a bit of a slow start we decided to do Noel's ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, followed by mine and then Una's. Other than doing it for a good cause and a bit of fun, it also refreshed us and woke us up nicely. Following that, Uns cooked us up a fry for breakfast before chilling out a bit then heading over to Noel and Megan's place for the afternoon.
After a couple of drinks at theirs, we decided to head over to the Nottinghill Carnival which was only one stop away. Even though we missed most of the day's festivities, the crowd and carnival were still in full swing and plenty of floats trucks still passing through the route and still an awesome atmosphere about. In between all the crowds, Noel managed to adopt Skippy who had lost his mates and phone so the rest if the evening involved us missioning through the carnival down to Hereford Street to find his buddies. That did however include a stop in at the Commander Porterhouse & Oyster Bar for a quick Jäger shot and a beer before Noel and Megan dropped him off. Definitely a good laugh! After returning Skippy to his people, we set off to find food which turned out to be trickier than we thought and eventually came across Nandos which actually had food and wasn't full, so pulled in there for a late dinner. After eating we headed down to Queensway and got us a taxi back to their place.
Yesterday morning after breakfast we chilled out watching a bit of rubbish TV while watching the rain bucket it down outside. I know they'd predicted showers, but really did come down in force. Eventually once it subsided we made tracks home and chilled out on the couch for the afternoon and ordered a takeaway curry for dinner last night. Not the best weather for a bank holiday but at least the rest of the weekend was good which helped. But the best news about having had a long weekend means this week is only three days with Uns and myself off to Portugal for a week in Friday, cannot wait!
