This past week has been rather busy, and fairly exhausting, with Tommy, Dennis and Brendon over for a visit. Dennis and Brendon are over on the states doing a roadtrip tour of Britain and Ireland with Tommy and are staying with us during the London leg of it. They arrived last week Monday fairly late, and then had dinner with them at home on Tuesday, followed by the semifinal where Germany destroyed Brazil 7-1. Wednesday wasn't too bad weather wise, so decided on a braai and then watched the less exciting game between Netherlands and Argentina, which went to penalties where Argentina won 4-2.
On Saturday morning we started off with a fry up at home and then when Uns headed out for some wedding dress fitting, myself and Brendon took a walk up to Telegraph Hill for a while, before continuing on towards Deptford and then back to the Montague for a quick beer there.

They'd decided as a last minute plan to head over to France for a couple of days and go check out the D-Day Beaches in Normandy, which are part of the historic site of Operation Overlord, the Allied invasion of western Europe during World War II. After dinner at home, they left and headed down to Portsmouth to catch the ferry across, while Uns and myself stayed in to watch the Brazil - Netherlands play off where the Dutch won by 3 goals to none. Sunday was lovely and warm so Uns and I headed down and around New Cross, grabbed a coffee from the London Particular and then chilled out at home for the afternoon. That evening was the final between Germany and Argentina, resulting in Germany scoring in the 113th minute, which I was happy with! Otherwise last night we just chilled at home until they arrived back in, which was around midnight, so stayed up for a while chatting about their French weekend getaway and wishing them well before they head off to Ireland for a few weeks over there. Good to see them again, but certainly exhausting :)
