Last Wednesday after dashing home and waiting for Martin to come round, the three of us popped to The Montague for a bite to eat before Uns and myself set off for Victoria to get the late bus over to Glastonbury, while Martin was house sitting / coach surfing while we were away. We met up with Si at Victoria and eventually left the coach station around half 10, after the driver worked out both where we were going as well as the controls of the bus. After a lengthy drive we got to the festival grounds about half 2 and started our trek across to the Worthy View campsite which we didn't realise was the complete opposite side of the festival. Anyway we got there and into our tent around half 4 I guess and even though we were all in such a bad mood from the walk and the trek up to the campsite, at least we didn't have to worry about then putting a tent up. Plus the sunrise over Glastonbury as seen from Worthy View was amazing which helped made us forget about the journey to get there. After a quick unpack, Sizi decided to get some sleep while Uns and myself headed down to Stone Circle, around The Green Fields and up to the Pyramid Stage and then back up to the campsite for some much needed sleep!

After a few hours sleep, we were woken up to the sound of rain hitting the tent, a sound that become fairly familiar through the few days there. It was never all that hard rain, but we got our fair share of rain and mud - guess it wouldn't really be Glastonbury without it! Aine arrived Thursday evening and met us at the campsite - she originally was only going to come down the Friday morning but managed to shift her work around a bit so could join us from the Thursday instead. The next few days were spent missioning around the campsite, chilling at the various tents and trying to catch whichever bands we could.

There was definitely too much happening and going on in the past few days for me to have kept track of a day-by-day count of what we got up to. Plus without any charging points, my phone didn't last past the first day. I think we did pretty well covering the festival, obviously we never made it everywhere and didn't get to see the majority of the bands - it would've just been way to stressful to run around like that trying to cover everything. But certainly a good balance of seeing bands and chilling out. We did spend a fair amount of time chilling out and lying around at the acoustic tent, listing to the bands on in the background.

Some great highlights over the long weekend - Stone Circle, The Green Fields, Arcadia, Shangri-La, Block9, The Unfairground, Theatre & Circus, West Holts, The Park, Field of Avalon, the food stands, Sizi's constant moaning especially when he got scuppered with his toasted sandwich and rotisserie chicken, random street artists and performers as well as most of the bands really but especially De La Soul, Jurassic 5, Kasabian, Metallica, Jack White, Black Keys, The Smyths and obviously Dolly Parton on the Sunday Afternoon Legends slot. Apparently the biggest crowd drawer of the festival and she really put on a good performance, enjoyed watching her a lot more than I expected to! As I said earlier, way too much going on to put everything into a single blog post, but covered what I could from the weekend!

After an amazing few days there we were up early yesterday morning, around 5 to get one of the first shuttles back to the bus station - really weren't keen to be stuck waiting all day. Our bus from the festival left at 9 and back in London and home by about 3, so a fairly lengthy trip back. Both myself and Uns completely knackered after those few days away and no doubt looking forward to a few fairly early nights this week in a comfy bed :)
