Just back this afternoon from our amazing ten days over in the States. A bit of a panic on leaving San Fran - our airport shuttle ride picked us up on time, did another couple of pickups then landed up getting stuck in some horrendous traffic trying to get out of the city. There was apparently some baseball game which had finished just before, so we were competing with thousands of others to get out the city. We managed to get there in time, but was a rather stressful journey. The check in guy clearly sensed our concern at a late check in and gave us priority pass which was brilliant of him and certainly sped things up going through security and scanning. Then once on the plane (upper deck again) and settled into our seats, we could actually relax and try catch up on all the sleep we lost over the previous ten days :)

While on the flight, something I'd never seen before, Una has noticed and pointed out what turned out to be the Northern Lights. In the distance on the horizon you could see the most amazing colour of light which stretched across the skyline for ages. Was amazing to see, and really made me want to push Iceland or Norway further up the 'to do' list!
We landed up getting a fair bit of sleep on the flight, and no doubt will struggle a bit this week to get back into the swing of things, which I'm sure we'll be more from exhaustion rather than jet lag. Instead of going straight to sleep, we half unpacked, showered, then headed out to Chinwag Cafe in New Cross for a coffee to try wake us up.

Then this evening we landed up watching The Rock while the memory of Alcatraz was still fresh in our minds and no doubt going to have an early one to hopefully make the thought of work tomorrow slightly less painful :)
