We've been lucky enough to have had some amazing weather over these past few days, a late summer heatwave apparently. After having spent Friday lunch down at the R3D Market with some pizza and a couple of beers, Uns and I planned to have a braai for dinner, so wasted no time leaving work and getting home to start prepping that. I've certainly managed to make good use of the Weber this summer, and hopefully still get another couple of weeks use out of it!

Saturday morning, after getting a bit of admin done around the house, I decided to head out on the road bike while I left Uns at home to work on her course assignment for the day. Obviously not knowing the area as well as I know south west London, decided to follow the roads wherever they took me, and in no real planned direction. I landed up heading through New Cross, Dulwich, Nunhead and looped all the way back round to Queens Road at which point I figured I'd make my way up to Telegraph Hill Park and plan another route out there. I landed up spending quite sometime in the park soaking up the sun which was amazing, then decided to take a ride out to Crystal Palace, which was about an hour round trip. Thought I'd check out Cadence, which is both a cycling performance centre as well as a coffee & cake shop, located in a former car showroom. It apparently opened early last year and is extremely popular with road cycling clubs for both an early morning coffee stop as well as being a bike shop.
It was a good ride out there, and found the cafe quite easily, but realised I had no cash on me and couldn't be bothered to go find one either, so turned around and headed home for a late afternoon lunch outside in the garden. After a bite to eat, I got the train over to Putney and walked down to Wandsworth Park and waited for Si, Will, Paul, Duncs and Seamus who had gone up to Parsons Green but were making their way back down to Wandsworth. We landed up spending the next couple of hours throwing the frisbee and knocking back a few beers - something I could spend all day doing! Once the sun had dropped behind the trees, we made our way up to the old house, Duncs headed home and we chilled out there most of the evening having a braai. Certainly not a bad Saturday at all :)
Yesterday morning was a fairly rushed start to make the train in time and head down to Swinley Forest for a morning of mountain biking. Unfortunately the trains today were running some bizarre schedule and took longer than usual to get there and back, so had less time than I'd have liked on the trails, but still managed a complete lap of the Blue Route. Will definitely attempt the Red the next time I'm out there!

Once back home, Uns and I grabbed a late lunch outside in the garden, then later on we made our way over to Greenwich for a bit of walk around the town there. I had hoped for a decent sunset but it let me down a bit unfortunately. We then went in search for food and after checking out most of the restaurants, we decided on San Miguel which looked nice and did Spanish Tapas, certainly a favourite!

After dinner we bussed it over to Woolwich to watch the fireworks which were been set off from a barge in the river, similar to the ones last Wednesday night in Greenwich. We got there just in time for me to set up the tripod and snap away at the display, which, similar to the last display, lasted about 15 minutes. At least there were more people out watching these fireworks than there were last week.

After the display we met up with Carol and headed back to her place for a beer/coffee/tea and a bit of a catch up. Her new housemate Matt had just moved in on Saturday, so we got to meet him too. After a bit longer out there than initially planned, we made our way back to the bus and headed home. Certainly a good outdoors weekend, and this week is supposed to be hot and sunny too - got to love a bit of early September sunshine!
