A while back Una had signed up for a 5 mile charity run around the Olympic Park and only just recently found her entry form and realised how soon it was. So after some last minute training last week, we headed off on Sunday morning along with 15,000 other people towards Stratford for the run. The course involved 5 miles traversing the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and finishing up on the track inside the stadium in front of all the spectators, which would've been quite something.

After the run I met up with Uns back in the stadium and we stayed on for sometime watching more and more of the runners come in. Was quite good atmosphere in there, especially with the live entertainment and couple of big screens. It was nice and warm in the sun on the upper tier, but sounded like the runners battled out there in the heat. I was ok at least, catching a tan :)

Once we were done with the runners, we made our way over to Westfield for coffee at Grind and then towards the train and headed home for the afternoon. After lunch outside and chilling in the garden, we had originally planned to head into town to the Tour de France fan park to watch the final stage finish with Noel and Megan, but they were still out in West London so we decided to stay in and watch it on the TV instead.
Then on Monday we had the hottest day of the year so far, as well as the hottest day since 2006. For London it was exceptionally hot, just a pity most of us had to be stuck indoors at work instead of outside enjoying it properly. But I did manage a decent walk around Shoreditch at lunchtime, no way I was going to be stuck indoors and miss out. That evening I was originally supposed to head back to the Putney house to give it a clean and tidy before James moved in, but with such summery weather I decided to postpone it until the following night and rather enjoy the evening. After heading home, Uns and myself headed up towards Telegraph Hill and stopped in at Chai's Garden Thai Restaurant for dinner, which still does an amazing Pad Thai meal. After eating, we made our way over to Telegraph Hill Park to chill out on the grass and watch the sunset, and clearly weren't the only ones with that idea!

After the sun had dropped behind the city, we made our way home and chilled out in the garden for sometime, soaking up as much of the evening as possible. It was only later on when the thunderstorms hit, which reminded me very much like Joburg's weather - hot during the afternoon followed by sudden thunderstorms. Good memories :)
On Wednesday I was supposed to play squash after work, but decided to postpone that and meet up with Paul instead and check up how he's doing after the news from Monday. We met up by London Bridge Station and decided on the George Inn, which London's only remaining galleried coaching inn and has been serving beer for over 300 years now apparently. After a couple of beers there, something to eat and a bit of a catch up, we called it a night and headed home. Good to meet up with Paulus and hopefully they get to sort things out one way or another.
