On Wednesday evening it was the third and final State of Origin game, with the blues and the maroon tied at one game each. The original plan was to meet up at the Aussie's place for a braai and the game, but they weren't able to organise the sports channel in time, so the venue was changed to Temple Walkabout in town. I headed there after work along with Fish, Ally, Martin and Si and arrived just before kick off which was pretty good timing. After a fairly tight hand, Queensland came up victorious, beating NSW 12 points to 10. It was awfully hot inside the Walkabout, would've been ideal to watch the game on an outdoors screen, but considering it was delayed plus only rugby league, I couldn't imagine many places like that.

Then last night Uns and myself thought we'd check out the Tour de France fan park which is set up near to Canary Wharf for the duration of the Tour. Obviously it would be ideal to spend the afternoons there watching it live and in the sun, but as usual, work gets in the way of my social life :) But at least they were showing the highlights from the day's racing each evening, so after meeting up with Uns at Canary Wharf we made our way over to the fan park, grabbed some food from one of the stands there and settled down on the grass to catch the highlights.

It was stage 18 which was huge a day in the Tour - the double ascent of Alpe-d'Huez. I had managed to have it on all day at work in the background, so had seen the majority of the day's riding, but was good to catch up on the highlights and chill out on the grass there for a while. Unfortunately the sun had dropped behind the buildings, so it wasn't quite as sunny as I would've liked, but good for a couple of hours in the evening. Will definitely try organise come back on Sunday for the final stage and sunset finish on the Champs Elysees. Once the highlights were over, we took a bit of a walk around Canary Wharf then headed home.
