After work on Friday a few of us decided to make the most of the summery afternoon and popped down to the Barley Mow for a quick pint after work. Most of us just stayed for the one before splitting and heading home. Back at Uns' place we grabbed a few snacks and headed up to Telegraph Hill and chilled out on the embankment watching the sun slowly fall behind Canary Wharf.
Saturday was supposedly the hottest day of the year so far, so after an early start we made our way into Borough Market to grab some food for later in the day. It was apparently almost 30°C in certain parts of London, which we just aren't all that used to. After a bit of a walk around Borough Market, we headed back to Uns' place and chilled out there in the sun for the afternoon. We had thought about taking a walk up to Telegraph Hill, but I seemed to have picked up a case of hay fever or something, but spent the afternoon (trying not to) scratch and rub my eyes - so annoying. Instead we just stayed at home and had a braai outside with all the fresh food we'd bought from Borough.

Sunday morning was just spent at home, having breakfast outside and chilling in the sun. At least my hay fever or random eye infection seemed to have sorted itself out, was a bit worried I'd be spending the next few months of summer indoors! For lunch, we put together a packed lunch and headed out to Greenwich Park, which is really close to Uns' place - less than 20 minutes away by bus. We spent a good part of the afternoon out there chilling in the park, and positioned ourselves quite near the bandstand which is a Grade II listed structure and built back in 1891. The field surrounding it is known as Bandstand Field. They had a brass band playing songs for quite a bit of the afternoon, which made for good background music while napping on the grass under the trees.

After a few hours in the park, we headed down into Greenwich and grabbed an ice-cream from Black Vanilla then headed home. I had been quite keen to fire up the Weber and attempt a arsehole chicken beer-can chicken on the braai for dinner that evening. The last couple of times I'd tried they both didn't work out all that great, but now with a bigger braai at Uns' place, it worked out so much better - now I just got to perfect it :)
The heat from the weekend is supposed to continue this week and next, which means sitting in an office looking out at the window at the amazing sunny weather. Would love to rather be sitting in a park or chilling in a beer garden in this weather!
Then last night we had an FTG braai at home, figured it was too nice an evening to be in a pub or restaurant, so fired up the Weber and chilled out in the back garden with a couple of cold beers, soaking up the evening's sun and warmth.
Got a few busy evenings coming up before the big move on the weekend, which I'm really not looking forward to actually doing - like sorting and packing and moving boxes, but hopefully it'll all come together fairly easily. But more about that after the weekend...
