On Thursday night my intention was to head home and go for a cycle around Richmond Park to get the legs warmed up for the London to Brighton bike ride this Sunday, but just as I was about to get on the train I got a call from Uns convincing me to go for a curry in Brick Lane instead. And with my rubber arm that didn't take much effort for me to change my mind. So we made our way to Brick Lane and back to City Spice where we had eaten the last night. It was a lot busier than the previous time, but the food was just as good, and almost as healthy as doing a couple of laps around Richmond Park :)

Yesterday was John's last day at the office, so a few of us decided to head out for lunch over at MEATmission by Hoxton Market. They're the same crew that started MEATwagon (a roving burger truck), MEATliquor (burgers and booze) as well as MEATmarket (above a Covent Garden market). To follow suite, this latest offshoot serves meat in a mission - a former Christian mission. The plaque on the wall, dated 1915, pronounces that the building first opened with the aim of doing good works. The windowless main room is dark and grungy, with light only via a new stained glass ceiling, and fairly upbeat jukebox music you expect to hear in a karaoke bar.

After some awesome buffalo wings, really good burger and fries on the side, the jugs of Brooklyn lager were flowing rather nicely and by mid afternoon we decided we couldn't then head back to the office for only half an hour, so landed up staying there until everyone was out the office and down at the pub.

The Princess of Shoreditch

After Meat Mission, we stopped in at the Bird & Ballard for a quick espresso each before joining most of the office down at the Princess of Shoreditch. We landed up staying there until late, which by then had turned rather messy especially with a few of us having started at lunch time! Definitely a good, yet unproductive, Friday afternoon!
