Yesterday we started our Joburg sightseeing part of the holiday, with the Kruger and Mpumalanga ticked off the list, even though I definitely could've spent another week or two up there. But also good catching up with the family and being around Jozi. So on Tuesday we headed off into Joburg, through downtown and onto Newtown to the SAB World of Beer. I hadn't been there since university days I think, so was good to return back there as well as take Uns who I thought would enjoy the tour around there. We decided to have lunch first and then took the guided tour, which lasted around 90 minutes in total. Plus I got to buy myself an awesome Black Label cap :)

After the tour and our 'free' drink at the end, we made our way back home then up to Greg and Kim's place for dinner with her folks as well as mom and dad. We managed to get up there a bit before it was Ethan's bathtime and bedtime, so managed some quality time with the little guy before he had to go get bathed and put to bed.

This morning dad, Uns and myself set off to the Apartheid Museum there by Gold Reef City, which I had also been to before, but back in 2008, so quite some time ago. Dad was keen to return as well to spend more time looking at the Steve Biko expo, but this time had been replaced with a Nelson Mandela expo, which suited him. We landed up taking longer than we thought at the museum, and eventually got to the end where we went in search of a Steers for lunch.

After a bite to eat, we made our way home and dad decided to do a bit of a sightseeing drive through the centre of the Alex down London Road to give Uns, and myself, a quick glimpse into the middle of the township which I'd never done before. Very interesting, but also rather depressing to see the conditions in which so many people are forced to live. But it tied in well with us coming back from the Apartheid Museum. Closer to home, dad dropped us off to Greg's place to spend a bit of time up there with Ethan. Kim was at work and mom was already up there, but managed to have done good quality catch up time with the little guy.

Once it was Ethan's bed and sleep time, we headed home for a quick change of clothes and then up to Nic and Kris' place in Edenvale, which really is stunning. After a quick tour around the house, it was out to Monte Casino and to the Meat Company to meat meet up with everyone else.

Nic, Kris, Uns and myself were a bit late in getting through to Monte, being on holiday means you shouldn't have to rush, but once there we met up with Linda, Karen, Paul, Kate and Woody who were already there and had found the table upstairs. Dinner was really tasty, and good to catch up with everyone again. Always tricky to try chat to everyone at once, but think I managed alright. In between finishing my amazing steak fillet skewer :)

After a couple of days of catching up and guided tours, we thought we'd try out the new Joburg Hop On Hop Off bus tomorrow, starting off at Constitutional Hill and the Old Fort. So that hopefully should be a good day out and afternoon in downtown Jozi!
