Once back from the game drive this morning and finished packing the car, Uns and I quickly headed down to the lookout hide just next to the chalet for any last minute animal sightings, but unfortunately they were either asleep or hiding away in the bushes. Can't really complain I guess after our somewhat successful game drive this morning! Then from the hide, once we'd checked out, dad and I quickly missioned around to snap a few last minute photos of Ngwenya (which we ran out of time trying to fit in during the week), and then from there we headed off towards Graskop via Nelspruit, about a two or three hour drive away.

Once at Graskop, we found and checked into Mogodi Lodge, which is just fifty metres from the Panorama Falls with a magnificent view over the Mpumalanga Lowveld. Adjacent to the resort is the Graskop Gorge Big Swing - the world's highest cable gorge swing, so we decided to take a wander down there to check it out and see if anyone was waiting there ready to jump or swing. I won't lie when I say the whole setup didn't look quite entirely stable, I'm sure it is though, but there were just a few to many wooden slats, nails and cable ties for my liking. Which is my excuse why I decided against doing a jump or swing! :)

From the swing we headed back to the lodge to unpack our bags and grab some much needed lunch. After some food we hopped in the car and took a drive down the road to Panorama Chalets where we were originally going to stay. The accommodation looked quite similar, but they did have a fantastic infinity pool in front of the reception area and shop, which overlooked the gorge towards the direction of sunrise. So no doubt I'll be back for an early morning picture. After a walk around Panorama and a few pictures out towards the gorge, we continued to drive down the road until Kruger's Gold Restaurant, situated on the Eagles View Eco Estate which is currently under development, and set to become one of the major attractions in the area I would guess.

After stopping in and walking around the grounds, we landed up chatting to one of the waitresses about the venue, as well as enquiring about either a breakfast or dinner there in the next day or two, which looked really tasty. After some time there chatting, we decided to head back towards Mogodi Lodge, but not after first stopping in by the Panorama Falls and the Edge Bar for a quick beer. The Panorama Falls are about 80m high and the water coming over the falls varies from a trickle to a torrent depending on recent rainfall. There was a decent flow of water coming over the edge, I would guess after the next rainy season there'd be a lot more, but nice to see a decent bit of water flowing over.

Unfortunately the barman behind the counter was just finishing up his shift for the day and was packing away, but we managed to still buy a can of beer each off him and chill out on the benches overlooking the falls, with the setting sun in the background. Then once we were done with our beers, we headed back home to the lodge to light the braai, ready for dinner... and certainly some sleep after our 3am start this morning!
