It's probably been about eight or more years since I was last at the Wanderers, but today I was back for the SA vs Pakistan ODI, the third in the series. Momentum were doing a massive breast cancer awareness drive where the players would be wearing pink, and they were trying to get everyone in the crowd to wear pink as well. Uns and I had managed to grab some pink paraphernalia at Greenstone yesterday morning, so we were all sorted for the day.

Dad had booked tickets for us for the game, with our seats on the upper tier up in main the grandstand, so after picking up Greg this morning, the four of us set off for the day at the Wanderers. I'm glad we had those tickets and not down in the sun, as I'm sure the four of us would've melted long before the afternoon with that sun beating down. Our seats were fantastic - nice and high up, almost perfectly in line with the wicket and well out of the way of the hot and harsh sun. Plus we weren't all that far from the nearest bar :)

Pakistan won the toss and decided to put South Africa into bat first. Smith was first out for only three runs, but with two big centuries from Amla (122) and De Villiers (128) including a record third wicket partnership of 238, South Africa put on a decent total of 343 for the loss of only five wickets. Always good to watch a big innings like that! After the lunch break, where Greg, Uns and myself tried unsuccessfully to get onto the field, Pakistan came into bat and put on a good chase but fell short by 34 runs. Still, a good game to watch, especially with it being Uns' first cricket game.

Once the game was over and the crowds had dispersed a bit, we headed for the car and then made our way home. Mom had nicely prepared a bobotie for us this evening, but as a last minute suggestion we decided we'd pop up to the Brazen Head for a quick St Paddy's Day beer, which turned into two and most likely would've been at least three, but instead we decided not to eat up there and head home for food. So at least St Patrick wasn't completely forgetten about this year :)
