Last Monday morning we were woken up with a fresh blanket of snow covering London. There were weather forecast warnings that it would come, so we were expecting it but you never really know with the weather. It was also forecasted to be bitterly cold for the week, but hopefully that would then be the worst of the winter over with.

Tuesday was my birthday and was a lot tamer this year compared to our Amsterdam weekend last year. I wasn't particularly bothered to do much this year, but figured a meet up after work at Nandos would go down well. There were about 11 of us in total who came out, not bad for a Tuesday night, and Nandos always goes down well!

After a feed there, a few of the others - Paul, Carol, Noel, Megan, Tom and Anna - decided to head home and left the rest of us - myself, Una, Will, Seamus and Duncs - to make our way to the new Wheatsheaf by Borough Market. The original Wheatsheaf which was there closed back in early 2009 to allow for work to be done on the Thameslink upgrade for the new railway viaduct being built over Stoney Street, and moved just around the corner, which is the Wheatsheaf I've been to a couple of times. But now that the Thameslink work has been completed in that section, they were able to re-open last month, back in it's original location but with a full makeover. Other than Duncs, it was a first for the rest of us inside there, well at least since the reopening.

On Wednesday it was still freezing cold outside, and not looking to let up at all. At least the rain has managed to stay away, but the icy wind which cuts right through you doesn't help the matter at all! Oh well, not much any of us can do! At least on Friday the snow decided to arrive, and kind of makes the cold weather bearable - it just takes your mind off the cold and focus on the fun element that is the snow. It continued to snow all day, and that evening after work Uns and I took a walk up to Telegraph Hill to see the park at night covered in snow as well as the snowy views over towards London. With the snow still around on Saturday, we spent most of the day indoors catching up on TV and some movies - no real interest to head out!

Yesterday, after a good couple of days of snow around on the ground, we decided to head out and check it out, starting off with a walk up to Telegraph Hill Park. There certainly was a good bit of snow around, with plenty of others out and about in the park enjoying the fresh downfall.

After a walk around and a good appetite having built up, it was over to the Telegraph for a roast but unfortunately they were all sold out of roasts for the day, and actually out of just about everything! Clearly a popular day for a pub lunch! So to try somewhere new for Sunday lunch we thought we'd attempt the New Cross House just down the road, which I'd only ever been to for dinner, and usually always pizza.

The roast there was only alright, but nothing great I'd say, definitely doesn't beat the Telegraph. Will just have to make sure we go that bit earlier on a Sunday, especially on snow days! Once back at the house we decided to build a showman but try one of him sitting in a garden chair then try with the Boris mask one. He came out looking ridiculous, and not as good as our attempt last year, but a good laugh nonetheless!

This morning was a cold, early start up to Telegraph Hill Park to try catch the sunrise or just some pictures of the park without the hordes of people. There really wasn't much of a sunrise, with the grey blanket of cloud showing no sign of breaking up. But managed to few of the park with a fairly fresh covering of snow from last night.
