The first couple of weeks of this year have been fairly quiet, both because it's fairly miserable out there and trying to be fairly healthy with an attempt at 'Sober January' so we'll see how that works out. I know they say it's better to cut down rather than cut out, but who knows what they know, it's just my attempt at it.

Last weekend was really quiet, other than meeting up with Will on Saturday for some headshot photos and to borrow his Wacom graphics tablet which I'm slowly getting used to. The only problem with that is now I'm probably going to want one! Then on Sunday we decided on the Telegraph for a roast, which is my new favourite pub for Sunday lunch, and handy being so close to Una's place.

Maybe it was just a case of the January Blues, but wasn't feeling the best on Monday and decided on a sick day off work. It probably did me good staying indoors all day, but will take more than that to cure the January Blues! Maybe another holiday :) But I got over that fairly quickly and on Thursday night Uns and I were out for dinner and (soft) drinks at the East Dulwich Tavern which is one of the most established pubs in the area and has a vintage charm and good atmosphere. They also have a sizable upstairs function room, with a monthly film club, Jazz night and various other events, so not doubt we'll be back to check some of those out.

Friday we had a company update over in the new office, so just about the whole team decided to hop on the Boris Bike and take a group cycle up to Old Street. Had never actually cycled one of those Boris Bikes, but might start using them a bit more actually. After the update, we hung around the office a bit for some drinks and table tennis. I popped out briefly to meet up with Uns who was heading home past the office, so thought we'd stop in at the Hoxton Grill for a coffee before heading home, for a rather quiet Friday evening, with nothing planned other than chilling out.

I didn't have too much planned for Saturday, just hanging around at home for the most part then Haig came up that evening and had planned to head out into town for a catch up dinner with Paul, Carol and Una. We had thought we'd try Cubana by Waterloo but without any booking there was no chance of that. So as option B we settled on Carluccios, upstairs inside Waterloo Station. Always a good meal there, and good catch up with everyone.

Yesterday was an exceptionally early start for a Sunday, with me heading out into Kensington Olympia to catch a view, and photos, of the stream train running through the London Underground. As part of the anniversary to mark 150 year since the first underground train journey ran, London Underground have taken a restored steam locomotive, which had hauled passenger carriages back in the 19th Century, and ran it on a commemorative journey to retrace its original roots. The train journey was from Kensington Olympia, through Earls Court and up to Moorgate, then back again. And then repeated another couple of times during the day. Anyone could've applied for tickets as a passenger, but decided rather to see the train in action instead of being on it. After some waiting at Kensington Olympia, the train finally pulled into the station, with none other than Boris Johnson on board, and waited there for the passengers with tickets to board.

I thought I'd try and get a shot of the train in action, so left Kensington Olympia and dashed down the road to the nearby Tesco which has it's car park overlooking the tracks of the district line, which was noted as a decent viewing spot. I probably left it a bit late, but managed a quick snap as it missioned on past towards Earls Court.

Once done with my trainspotting for Sunday morning, it was over to Peckham and to the Telegraph for a Sunday roast, which I've now put down as a regular for lunch on Sundays! The rest of yesterday was just spent at home, watching a bit of TV and me sorting out some of my photos, a job I've never done with :-)
