On Friday afternoon, everyone in tech at work headed off to John's place for a few Christmas celebratory drinks and finger snacks. Even though we had our official work Christmas party last weekend, this was just a tech only evening over a few quiet drinks at John's. After a few hours at his place, we got kicked out by Laura and all made our way down to Camden to the Blues Kitchen which is always pumping on a Friday night. A good lot of us stayed out, and I decided on the sensible option to get the last train home - wasn't quite up for a night bus or taxi in the early hours.

On Saturday morning I had a fairly early eye test down Putney High Street as well as a bit of High Street shopping for a few random things for the house as well as an attempt at some Christmas shopping. That was just a bit painful. So instead I headed off home and did what I could online... much, much easier!

That evening I made my way over to London Bridge Station and met up with her sister Teresa together with Ted and Teddy who were over from Ireland for the weekend to watch the Munster game on Sunday. From London Bridge we took a walk over to The Swan there by Shakespeare's Globe for dinner and a couple of beers. I had briefly met Ted and Teddy before after a fairly big night out, so good to have a proper catch up and chat with them.

After dinner at The Swan, we set off across the Millennium Bridge and then tube over to Temple to the Walkabout. There were a few players from Munster doing a Supporters Q&A in the Temple Beach Club which is adjacent to the actual Walkabout. The three of them are part of the Munster Rugby Supporters Club which is how they knew about it going on.

I obviously didn't know the players, but they had the couch who is ex All Blacks player Simon Mannix, ex Munster platter Alan Quinlan (Quincy) as well as their young fly half JJ Hanrahan. After the initial discussion and chat by the guys, they opened the questions and answers session to the crowd for anyone to throw some questions around.

After that had ended, everyone shifted over to the Walkie, which by now was filling up quite a bit. There was also an Irish Band playing who were pretty good, but then again Irish music playing anywhere live is always pretty good! I guess we had never planned to have a particularly big night at the Walkie, so after sometime once the band had finished we decided to leave, and took a walk along Embankment and overt the bridge to Waterloo. Still one of my favourite views and walks around central London.

On Sunday morning, all five of us met up in Clapham Junction for breakfast at Jack's at the Junction for a decent fry up. I had never been there or heard of it before, but Uns knew about it and suggested it. Turned out to be a really good fry up, just what we all needed before our day out.

From Clapham we hopped on the Overground line up to Watford, far north London. It was there, at Watford FC ground, that Munster were playing against the Saracens in the fourth round of Pool One of the Heineken Cup. They were both sitting on 10 points so this was going to be a critical game to put the winner top of the pool. Because the tickets were booked quite late, unfortunately none of us were sitting together in the stands, but once seated, we managed to find a section with five free seats around each other and all moved to sit there, so it all worked out quite well in the end.

The first half of the game was rather tight, with the score at half time being 10 points each, so definitely looked to be a good second half. But then unfortunately after that Munster let the game slip with a few too many missed penalties and kicks, and the Saracens were able to take the lead, and the game, with 19 points to Munster's 13.

After the game we thought we'd try get into the The Oddfellows pub, but with the amount of other supporters with the same idea, it wasn't going to happen! So we decided on dinner first and then attempt the pub afterwards. To me Watford never sounded very appealing as an area, but was actually quite surprised at it, some nice eating places and decent looking pubs. We settled on Chimichangas Mexican, which was excellent and a good after-rugby warming meal.

After we were done eating, the others suggested back to the The Oddfellows pub, but Uns wasn't feeling well so we decided to call it a night and head home, and left them to continue onto the pub, while we started our journey all the way back down to South West London.
