On Thursday I headed up to Sheffield with a couple of people from work for a couple of days up there - both to get some work done, as well as for their monthly social. We thought we'd join them this month for their social instead of staying down in London - so timed it around that.

Sheffield Train Station

After doing a day's work there in the office, we dropped our bags in the hotel and headed down to the Globe Pub for a bit of pool and a couple of cold ones and waited for the others to arrive, who were on the late train up from London. Once they got there, we finished up beers and game of pool and headed back to the hotel for them to drop their bags. Then off the lot of us went into Sheffield city centre for dinner and decided on Aagrah, a really good Indian Restaurant which is always ideal for a large group of people.

After dinner, none of us could decide on where we'd want to go, and landed up settling on the Grosvenor Casino which was about a 15 minute walk from where we were. I'm not usually a big casino/gambling fan, but every now and then it's quite good fun. Threw down a few quid, cross your fingers and generally lose it :) But makes for a few hours out and somewhere different.

Friday was spent working up in their office, then towards the end of the day it was work social time, so out came the beers. We had a couple around the office, then all made our way over to the Varsity Pub a bit down the road, for a night of karaoke. We had hired out the upstairs booth for the lot of us, so there was no need to fight over the mic or songs, with it being ours for the night. I did a few songs here in there, always in a group, never solo... not quite my thing :) But good fun and good entertainment. After karaoke we made our way to another bar, at which point I bailed out and headed back to the hotel.

On Saturday we had the midday train back to London, and I felt proper rough on that journey, hence straight home and just chilled out that evening. On Sunday I headed over to New Cross and had lunch with Uns at the Amersham Arms for one of their delicious Sunday Roasts! A slightly quieter weekend, but a rather large Thursday and Friday, which made up for it.
