Thursday wasn't quite the best day at work with a few issues that took the best part of the day to sort out. So afterwards, once everything was mostly sorted, a few of us headed to the Globe Tavern there by Borough Market for a couple of cold ones to chill out a bit. After a couple there I met up with Uns, we grabbed a bite to eat from McD's and headed down to Putney to meet up with Noel and some of the lads who were over from Ireland.

The Globe Tavern Borough Market

They were all out drinking in Fulham so we eventually managed to catch a bus over there and tried to meet up, but with both our phones dead, we landed up not knowing where they were or which pub they'd be at. So after all that we gave up, turned around and headed for home.

Putney Bridge at Night

We had both taken Friday off to meet up with everyone, so was nice waking up knowing we didn't have to mission off to work. So at around lunch time we made our way down to the Bathhouse and met everyone there - Noel, Simon, Donners, Sammon and Mark. The weather was fantastic, and managed to get a good seat upstairs on the balcony looking out towards the river. A few afternoon beers and some lunch in the sun went down a treat. Especially considering it was only Friday and technically not yet the weekend!

The Boathouse

Later that afternoon the guys decided to head home to change, which was also our plan, but instead Uns and I headed down the road to the Grand Union by Wandsworth. The Grand Union has a mix of both vintage and contemporary features inside, with a huge bar area curving around inside. Outside the back is an amazing beer garden, with large Chinese lanterns strewn above, and a mix of hammocks and Thai-like hut all around. We managed to bag ourself a hammock, so there went that idea of heading home first. Definitely one of the better pubs around in the summer!

After a while there, it was off to Battersea to Bunga Bunga which is an odd combination of affordable Italian food, stereotypical atmosphere (to the point of becoming sarcastic) and Chelsea service. The result? Somewhere that's certainly a lot of fun. The food there was really good as was the atmosphere. They even had an Elvis impersonator to add to the mix, who was really good and kept the crowd going. They had a karaoke booth upstairs, and the plan was to head up there at some point for a bit of a singalong, but never quite made it. We left there sometime after midnight when we decided it was time to call it a day! Good night out though!

Bunga Bunga Battersea

Saturday morning was a nice sleep in, then over to the Arab Boy for lunch - nice and close and an easy option. After a bite there, we headed over to Wimbledon (Tennis) and met up with the lads who were queueing there in an attempt to get into the ground at some point. We landed up standing around for ages, with the queue hardly moving at all, and after over an idea of not moving we decided against it, after a bit bit of moaning and arguing as to what to do. I don't think we would've got in, not with that many people in front of us, but guess we'll never know. Instead, it was back to Putney, down to the river and to the rowing club pub underneath the Duke's Head. Since the sun was still up, we made the most of it sitting outside and once the light began to fade it was upstairs to the pub for food, and again, had to wait, but not quite as long as this time we actually got through at the end.

The Dukes Head

After good, it was back to Noel's house for everyone to grab a change of clothes then we all headed over to his old house who were having a house party and we were all invited. For the most part, our group made up most of the party, but slowly some others trickled in and filled up. It was nothing too crazy, still a rather big night there, and after a bit of time there we made the (wise) decision to head home and leave the others to it. Weekend flew by, and I'm definitely feeling the effects of a busy weekend today, but well worth it and food craic indeed! :)
