Of all the bands I've watched in probably the last ten years, among the best is still the Tenacious D gig back in December of 2006. And when they announced they were doing another tour through London I had to go. So Will managed to grab a couple of tickets and off we went last night down to Brixton. We met up before the gig at The Beehive just near to Brixton station and then made our way over a bit later to the Academy.

Their new album is Rize of the Fenix and I had only listened to it a few times before the gig, but knew they'd play a mixture of those songs and their classics. The opening act of the night, no idea who they were, were rather rubbish and really didn't go down all that well with the crowd there. So not too bothered that we landed up missing some of them while still at the Beehive. After all, everyone was there to see the D. Their show wasn't quite the 'rock opera stage show' like the last time, which at first I was a bit upset by, and once you realise they need to change and mix up their sets a bit, I got quite into it, especially when they started to push out some of their classics - that's when everyone got involved! Good to see them again after a silence of over five years!
