On Wednesday evening I left work a bit earlier and headed through to Heathrow to hopefully catch my flight out to South Africa for a couple of weeks. Lozzie had organised for me to be on her friend's concession list and apply for tickets through him. Originally the plan was to fly out last Friday or Saturday, but it seemed like everyone had that idea, and all flights were full. So instead I pushed it back to Wednesday when they looked a bit quieter. So it still wasn't a guarantee I'd get on that flight. After getting through there in good time and checking in, I was good to go, all booked in on the flight. The flight itself was OK, and arrived in sunny Joburg on Thursday morning, to be greeted by mom, dad, Bev and Dale who were there waiting for me. So that was a nice surprise (however if they weren't there I'm not quite sure what I would've done). From the airport, it was straight home to number 54.

SAA Flight

Just after getting home, Greg and Kim arrived with little Ethan, who had said they wouldn't come to the airport but rather just meet at home, and made more sense anyway. I couldn't wait to meet the little guy, I was also a bit nervous to be honest, but more so excited! Such a cute little thing, with a constant little smile on his face! Grandpa also then popped around a bit later, so had the entire gang around the house, and slowly but surely growing in size! For lunch on Thursday, there was no real choice other than a classic King Steers Burger, my standard lunch on the first day back. Still one of the best burgers around. And no doubt will be having a couple more of those during the next couple of weeks :)

Greg, Kim and the little man stayed around for the afternoon, just chilling out in the lounge, with all attention on him. Later that evening, they packed up and headed home to give him bath and feed, and then later myself and the folks headed up to their place for a braai. Little Ethan was obviously fast asleep when we arrived, but was nice sitting up there on the balcony having a braai and few beers with the folks, Greg and Kim.

On Friday I was just at number 54 so Greg and Kim came around with Ethan for the morning, so was good to see him again. Bev then popped around a bit later on, and invited her friend Debbie to come see the little guy. We had lunch at home, then I got a lift out to Fourways to a braai at Ryan Hancock's place, who's friends with Si Woolley, who was out in SA with Suzie for a few weeks and passing through Joburg. Tamsen was also there at the braai, so was good to catch up with all of them again.

Yesterday morning was a real early start to the day, with the plan to head through to the Valley of the Waves at Sun City for the day. It was quite a drive out there, a bit over two hours, so the plan was to leave early and get out there for breakfast, spend the day there, then head back later in the afternoon, in time for Ethan's bath and feed. Greg and Kim picked up at the crack of dawn, and we headed in convey with Leigh, Jonty and his mom out for the day. Breakfast was at the Sun City Wimpy, and lunch was at Steers in the Valley of the Waves - so the best of the breakfast and lunch takeaways in a day.

Steak on the Grill

It was a rather hot day in the sun, but between the umbrellas, the wave pool, the lazy river and the rides, there really wasn't any reason we wouldn't want it to have been hot! The day flew by so quickly, and around 3ish we decided to leave and head back home to get to Ethan on time. We stopped by Kim's folk's place to get the little man, then back to Greg's place for him to bath and eat, then I chilled up there for the evening for a braai - a proper end to a good day out!
