After a long, looooong flight back from Auckland (via Brisbane and Dubai), I eventually arrived back in London. The Dubai London leg of the trip was on the A380 which was enormous, almost too big to be honest. The walls of the cabin and window were too far from the seat to lean against and sleep properly, so I actually think it was less comfortable that most of the other airlines I've been on. But other than that, everything else about it was cool. And massive! On arriving at Heathrow I realised I had lost my wallet, either in Dubai or somewhere on the plane, which was annoying! But these things happen I guess. Just had a mini panic that I wouldn't be able to buy my Oyster ticket, or get money for a taxi, which would've been a disaster. But anyway, remembered a credit card in my bag, luckily. Then from there it was off home to shower, change and unpack before heading to Nandos for something to eat.

That Monday was a long day at work, the brain hadn't quite yet switched out of holiday mode yet. To the point that remembering the basics of work was a struggle. But got through it. And so it was Thai takeaway for dinner that night. Tuesday evening Paul and Caz popped around to drop off a set of shelves for the house they were getting rid of. Then Wednesday night was Putney Pies for dinner with the Aussie crowd, Thursday night was a curry at the railway with Si and Loz, and then Friday was dinner with Una. So not a bad first week back... healthy eating aside that is :)

Saturday was an early start for Ireland Wales game which didn't go quite as planned, with Ireland losing against Wales 10 points to 22. Then that was followed by the England France game where the Frenchies beat the English by 19 points to 12. After a morning of rugby which didn't quite go according to plan, Uns and I walked over to the Electrical Engineering Cafe for lunch, a nice and popular little coffee shop near by Peckham Rye. Then yesterday morning was the big game - SA vs Australia quarter finals. Kick off was at 6am, and we had all decided to mission down to the Larrick to meet up and watch it there. Will had stayed over the night before to join us for the game too. So after waking up at the crack of dawn, just after 5, we left for the Larrick to meet Fish and Al and co. down there, to find out later they decided to sleep in and not bother! Anyway, it was me, Si, Will and Loz who ventured down to watch the game. Unfortunately it *really* didn't go our way, with SA losing by 2 points in the end, 11-9 was the final score, even though the Aussies had 24% of the territory throughout the game. Ridiculous. And that puts SA out the World Cup for 2011 :( So needless to say that didn't put any of us in a good mood to start the day. So instead of hanging around the Larrick, we thought we'd head home to watch the New Zealand Argentina game.

The Beehive Baker Street

Yesterday afternoon, after the rugby, it was the the final meet up for our series of Come Dine with Me lunches, where we would watch the videos and see who won. We all met up at the Beehive near to Baker Street, which was fairly central for everyone, so easy enough. I landed up coming third, which was alright I guess. Second would've been good, but I guess third still isn't last :) After lunch and couple of drinks there, I headed home, in time to start my health kick this week!
