On Tuesday morning the folks arrived over, after changing the original plans from mid summer to early August instead. An interesting time to arrive with the recent London riots and all those idiots going mad - rather frightening if you live in the immediate areas. Luckily Putney wasn't affected at all, think Fulham had an isolated incident, otherwise we were shielded from it completely.
After arriving in the morning, I met up with mom and dad at home, as I had planned to work a bit from home before heading in, which all worked out quite well. I left them to unpack and relax a bit, and then met up in the evening near Charing Cross and stopped for a drink at Gordon's Wine Bar, which is always heaving with people. From there, a short walk down Villers Street took us to the Tattershall Castle for dinner, which still has an amazing view over the river. After eating, we took a casual walk over the Jubilee Bridge, onto Waterloo and then home.
On Wednesday evening after work I met up with them, this time near Covent Garden and decided on Fish & Chips for dinner, which is always a classic. I've been to Rock & Sole Plaice a couple of times before, usually during the day, but thought we'd give it a go in the evening, sitting outside under the trees, and once again it didn't fail to impress. Delicious as expected!
Last night we decided on dinner at home, so nothing too much to write about, and then to end the week and celebrate Friday, we headed up to the Telegraph for a sundowner and relax in the country garden, which surprisingly wasn't that busy at all. Weird for a Friday. From there we bussed it down to the Railway for a bite to eat. Which not surprising at all, was busy. A good week just gone, and excellent having the folks here again and showing them around this insane city I call home :)
