What a weekend! Its Tuesday morning and still could do with 12 hours more sleep. This is certainly going to be a long week. It started off on Friday evening meeting up with Woolley after work at the Railway in Putney. He was down from Manchester for the Sevens over the weekend. Was good to catch up again, and just stayed at the Railway for sometime until we decided on a braai for dinner. So off past the Sainsburys for meat and a couple of refreshments for the weekend, and there we stood, two idiots, at almost midnight, braaiing in the back garden. Despite the time and having nothing other than a plate of meat only, was a good start to the weekend.

Saturday was an early start, meeting up down at Putney for half 10 then getting the train out to Twickenham. The theme was Beach Party and the majority of us on the train were in all some or other form of breach wear. The weather was perfect on the day, the rugby was cool and the atmosphere was exactly what you'd expect from a Sevens crowd. Towards the later part of the day when we all started to fade, we headed back to Putney and to the Spotted Horse where, slowly but surely, we all met up again, and continued the rest of the day there, until closing time.

Sunday wasn't quite as an enthusiastic start as what Saturday was, instead we kicked off the day with a decent fry up at Rogerios, and then all 10 of us made our way through to the rugby. The rugby was obviously better on the Sunday, leading up to the finals with Australia and Samoa in the play offs and South Africa and Fiji in the final. We had already lost to Fiji on the Saturday and they had thumped New Zealand so it was always going to good. We landed up winning the game and the Twickenham Sevens, but New Zealand still came out top overall and winning the Sevens for 2011.

Getting home was slow and crowded, but eventually made it back to Putney, giving Luke and I an unnecessary reason for a quick sundowner at the Railway, then headed home for a curry and a well deserved sleep. A massive weekend, and thoroughly enjoyable. Next year the same again, except it's definitely got to be south stand or even more on the south east corner. (I'm typing this note so next year when I book tickets I don't mess up and go for north stand. Its like a note to self, but to everyone else too.)
