After missioning home yesterday evening, grabbing a few things for the party, we headed up past Milnerton towards Blouberg. Si had a couple of mates he wanted to visit and stop by there, and I was wanting to try meet up with Candice at some point, so that all worked out quite well. I was at their place for about an hour, before we made our way back down to Camps Bay to see the old year out and welcome in 2011. We had decided months ago that we were going to play the Wizard Game over New Years Eve, seemed the best time to give that a go. It's definitely more of an outdoor game, as the amount of spillage indoors would not be pretty.

Quite simply put, you start off drinking your beer as you do. Following on from that, you duct tape your new beer to the top of the previous empty can, creating a double-can so to speak. This turns you into a Level 1 Wizard. After the second, you become a Level 2 Wizard, and so on and so forth. After you reach a Level 10 Wizard, you get to refer to yourself in the third person, as Wizard Mike, or Wizard Will, and are required to carry your staff around with you the rest of the night. Amazing.

The party was good fun, and good to catch up with so many people I hadn't seen in year. It was mostly like end of high school days with all the St Johns guys there, and how everyone was back together, from London, the States, Joburg and elsewhere. After we had braaied and eaten, we all headed down to the beach just before midnight to see in 2011, where we did the completely uncoordinated and untimely countdown from 10, and it was definitely done more than once. Classy. But a good way to end last year and a good start for this year. Wizard Mike wishes everyone an awesome 2011.
