This morning was a bit of a rough start, with us getting up around 11ish, a quick wake-up shower, Steers burger for breakfast then onto Lions Head which is situated between Table Mountain and Signal Hill. The three of us weren't quite feeling on top form, but hoping the walk up Lions Head would help that. My flight was this evening, so time was always against us, but thought we'd give the climb a go to kick start 2011.

We set off after lunch for the walk up, and the weather today had made a complete turn around and was an amazing day - beautiful blue sky, no wind and the sun was pumping down. The initial walk was fairly slow, and after some time Justin decided that climbing a mountain on New Years Day wasn't his idea of fun, so after some negotiating he decided to wait behind and Si and I mission on ahead. We picked up the day quite a day, however, time was still against us.

Unfortunately, we got almost to the top, probably about 20 minutes away from the summit, but the time problem still meant we had to get down and to the airport. I didn't feel like missing my flight back to Joburg, and as beautiful as Cape Town is, would've just meant a hassle tomorrow. So we turned around and headed back down. But the views from the top and for most of the walk up were brilliant, with a combination of the city of Cape Town, the waterfront, the harbour, the ocean and the mountains - can't complain about that. So not a bad way to start the year, considering about 8 hours prior to the climb, Wizard Mike and Wizard Will were still going strong! Happy new year to one and all.
