Today was our big 'Stellies Wine Tour by Bus' excursion. We started off this morning meeting up at Giulz's house and waiting for everyone to arrive - about 30 something of us I suppose in total. Giulz had (somehow) organised to rent a bus for the day, not just a small mini bus, but a full on proper bus. Impressive. Once everyone was on board, we headed out of Cape Town, and stopped by the airport to pick up Justin, as well as one of Will's mates, Andrew. Once they were on board we were ready to rock 'n roll and headed out towards Stellenbosch. Once in Stellies, we met up with Chris and Jen and a few others who I hadn't met before, and had pizza for lunch at Col'Cacchio to begin the day's festivities.

From lunch, we made our way over to Tokara Wine Estate, which is part of Greater Simonsberg route, towards the eastern side of Stellies. Being who we all are, we opted for the free wine tasting option which included a mix of red and whites, in the hope that after trying a few variations, we might actually buy a bottle or three. I think Will maybe fell for it and bought a couple of bottles. After being there sometime and getting through our few tasters, we were off and onto the next wine farm, this time is was Delaire Graff Estate which was just down the road. Unfortunately there were too many of us in our group for them to accommodate us, so in true class, we bought a bottle of wine for the road bus and headed off to the next winery.

The next stop was Thelema Mountain Vineyards, which was the neighbour to Delaire, and we spent the rest of the afternoon there, sampling the best of what they had to offer. We decided against the free tasters here, and went for a mix of red and whites which gave us a good variety of tastes. After we were done with the tasting, we hopped back on the bus and made our way back into Stellies to the Dros for a late lunch and a few sundowners.

After a full day out in Stellies, including pizza for lunch, three wine farms and the Dros, we headed back to Cape Town and onto Camps Bay to Giulz's place, to make plans for the rest of the evening. Si, Justin and I headed home to change, then made our way to Long Street to meet up with the Germans we had met at the Hermanus Backpackers, and then onto Jade Lounge Bar Nightclub at Green Point where Giulz and Lorrie were hanging out. Not the best club I've been to, despite the 40 minutes to get in and what felt like a million people inside, but a good day out in the Stellies wine region. And in terms of wine farms in the region, that's 3 down and 140 something still to go. But we can save that for another time...
