The past weekend was a good catching up and reunion weekend. On Friday afternoon, dashed home to drop my bag and work stuff, then headed over to Clapham and towards the Frog, which used to be the 'Frog and Forget Me Not' to meet up with Haig, Warwick and Stuart. Haig was over from Korea en route to South Africa, Warwick was up for the weekend from Wiltshire and Stuart was out just for the evening down from Essex somewhere. Hadn't seen most of them in ages - so was a good catch up at the Frog. Since I was last there, the place has changed a whole lot - from what used to be an easy going quieter pub with TVs around is now a fancy not-quite-my-style pub, resembling more a pub you'd find on Clapham High Street. But anyway, was still a good evening and catch up.

Then on Saturday, headed into central and met up with Alana, who too I hadn't seen in some time. She had been travelling around Spain and elsewhere and was in London for the weekend en route back to Canada, so was good timing to meet up in the afternoon. The plan was to head somewhere along the river, but with the Mayor's Thames Festival happening over both days of the weekend meant everywhere would be insanely busy. So we headed up to Covent Garden and went to the Rock and Sole Plaice which is London's oldest fish and chips shop and was established in 1871, with a decent outdoor seating area lined by an array of trees along the pavement. After lunch, we took a walk around Covent Garden, popped into the new Apple store which was amazing, and then onto the Lamb and Flag, which built in 1623 is the oldest pub in Covent Garden and quite possibly one of the oldest in the whole city.

After a few at the Lamb and Flag, we made our way over to The Wandle, formerly The Puzzle, in Earlsfield for Will's birthday celebrations. Within not much time at all, everyone had turned up, and the festivities kicked off. The evening was good fun, spent the first half of it outside in the beer garden, before being pushed inside when they shut that and continued the night inside. I would easily assume the 4 out of 5 people in there were South African, and just about all food and drink behind the bar were some sort of South African product, including Springbok shooters :)

Then yesterday was an easy going day at home, starting off with a good English fry up and then a bit of TV and internet browsing to finish off the weekend, in time for yet another week of 5 days of work and no weekend :(
