Yesterday afternoon, after a series of ridiculous series of events like malfunctioning ticket machines, incorrect purchases, attempted ticket cancellations and then doubling up on the journey from tube doors that don't open at some stations, I eventually got the train from Charing Cross and made my way down to Kent, destination - Tunbridge Wells.

Southeastern Train

Unfortunately, the travel misery didn't end at Charing Cross - on arriving into Tonbridge, the train terminated due to signalling failure, and as time went on and more trains arrived, they too were terminated. Good times. Eventually Mike and Simon drove round and picked me from the station and then headed back to his place for food and a well deserved beer.

We started off at first at the local Wetherspoons, originally built as an opera house in 1902, then later turned into a cinema, then a bingo hall and now a Wethers. Clearly saving the best for last.

After sometime at the Wethers, we headed on over to the Pitcher and Piano - the highlight of the Tunbridge Wells night life. It definitely was a good night there, good crowd, packed venue and rather good music too. Once we left, after grabbing some cheesy & chips from the local kebab shop, we starting making our way and luckily enough catching a lift home with the DJ from the club. Always a bonus.

Today was just an easy day, starting off with a decent fry up at home, then making our way to the train station and getting home hassle free this time round - straight into London with no ticket issues, no delays and no problems. Was good to visit Mike before he moves up north - next time round it'll be a weekend up in Manchester no doubt!
