One more step closer to getting my UK passport this morning. Since my current ancestry visa is about to expire (in the next few weeks), I had to submit my extension documents, and part of the process to get my biometric data read for some ridiculous 'ID card for foreign nationals'. Great.

But anyway, went through this morning and got whatever biometrics they needed - such as digital signature, retina scans and fingerprints. It was all digitally done, so quick and easy, and yet another step in their money making system. But as long as it gets me my visa, I'm happy.

Identity Cards For Foreign Nationals

I have read that from the time you get your biometrics done, it should be a couple of weeks for my ID card to arrive, and then around 12-14 weeks before I get my passport back. So that's sometime around July time I think, which means there may be no summer holidays abroad this year. Which is a pity, but there are plans to do more British seaside towns again this year, like Scarborough...
