Friday night was a fairly quiet one, the calm before the storm so to speak. A few of us met up down at the Walkabout Wahoo bar for the France vs South Africa game. Not a great game of rugby, with us losing 13 - 20 to the frogs. But otherwise just an easy night, especially with our 'little' pub crawl planned for the next day.

Yesterday was the day of our Monopoly Pub Crawl - a pub crawl which involves visiting a pub on each of the streets of a city which appear on the city's version on the Monopoly Board. In our case it was London, and involved a half pint at each of the 26 stops.

We started just before 10am at the Wetherspoons for a greasy fry up for breakfast, just to line our stomachs. Our theme for the day was 'London tourists' and all who were involved needed to wear some cheesy London merchandise. Our first pub (and half pint) was on Old Kent Road, which commenced at 11h00. The route we followed wasn't in order on the board, just one that made the most logistical sense to get finished in time (the same day really).

After starting off in south east London, we slowly made our way anticlockwise, from pub to pub. The first five or six pubs were fairly widely spread apart and involved a bit of travelling between them - better that in the start than at the end. Most of the earlier pubs we only had ten minutes at each to order our half pint, drink, then leave in time to get to the next pub. Between my detailed pub and time schedule and Si's megaphone - we did well for time keeping throughout.

Duncan was our resident photographer and log book keeper - keeping a written record of the entire day's activities and memories that were washed away with the beer. We also managed to keep only on the ales - in true British beer drinking form. Eventually, around 23h00 last night we made it to the final pub, and final half pint. After a total of 13 pints and 26 pubs in one day, it was definitely time to head home. Only three of us managed to properly complete the crawl - Si, Callum and myself. And only Alana managed to have a drink at each pub. The rest of them had to take a rain cheque, or only joined in for certain sections of it. But in general, a fantastic day of London pub sightseeing!

Without needing to give any reason, today didn't involve too much around the house. Don't feel nearby as rough as I expected - guess the ales rather than lager did help as well. But definitely something I can tick off my 'things to do in London' list, and what an epic pub crawl it was!
