We arrived on Sunday morning, and as usual, got a shuttle bus to our accommodation. We were staying at the Far Out Hotel - an easy 10 minute walk from Mylopotas Beach and the Far Out Resort. The resort had outdoor pools, bars, restaurants, and the beach on it's doorstep, as well as outdoor sports and a few shops within walking distance. After checking it, I headed down for the beach and took up some of watersports on offer - one of which was called the 'slingblade' - where up to four of us hold onto a board which gets dragged behind the boat at some ridiculous speed. The afternoon was spent lazing around the pool in the sun and drinking frozen daiquiris. It's a tough life.

That night, the group met up for all-you-can-eat pizza, and we then all caught the bus into town for our first taste of Ios nightlife. We started at the Fun Pub, which apparently is the only place busy before midnight or 1am. We all had laybacks on the bar (we had to lean our heads backwards onto the bar while the barman poured vodka and lime into our mouths), as well as playing a bit of mega Jenga. From there, we moved onto Flames, where Tim (our tour guide) started on the signature drink - a 'Flaming Lamborghini'. They make the drink, then light it, and as you drink it all through a straw they pour more spirits in. Finally we made it onto Rehab, which stayed upon until almost sunrise, then took a long walk back to Mokolopos beach and the resort.

Yesterday was a good time to catch up on sleep during the morning. Then set off to the beach, and just lay around there most of the day on the sun chairs and under the palm streets and umbrellas. After a walk up the hill side and some views over the resort, grabbed some pasta for dinner, then got ready for another night out in Ios, starting with a few shooters before hand at the resort. Then again, repeated pretty much the same as the night before - Fun Pub, Flames and Rehab. This time we also visited the Slammer Bar - where you put a helmet on, order a tequila slammer, down it and once you're done, they slam you over the head with a hammer / chair / skate board or fire extinguisher. No night out in Ios would be complete without a midnight snack early morning feed of a spanakopita or three (Greek speciality of spinach and feta pies). Ios definitely lives up to it's name of the party island.

This morning we didn't get much sleep in time, as we had to check out by 10, so we've all spent the day moping around the resort, trying not to feel too sorry for ourselves, and our fuzzy headaches. As much as I've loved every minute of the Greek Islands - it might actually be time to head back home now and get some well deserved rest after this holiday :) Back to Athens this evening, then fly out back to London tomorrow. Can't believe how quick it's all gone - but I guess time does fly when you're having fun!
