End of March in London always means Boat Race weekend, which some call the best weekend of the year in south west London. I'm not all that convinced by it being the best weekend of the year, but still a good day out along the river - providing it doesn't pour down like last year.
This morning I had a couple of people round to the house for some viewings as potential housemates - seemed ok, just wait to hear back from them now. Once they had gone, headed down to the river and met up with everyone else at the Larrick, well, now called the Kings Arms in Fulham. Had a few pre-drinks there, and then dashed off to the river to see the start of the race.
We managed to catch the start of the race, and then a few seconds of the initial battle as they flew past us, out of sight around the first bend of the river. That's when we rushed back to the pub to watch the rest of the TV - a much better view of the race and colder beers than storing cans in our pockets. With the weather being fairly mild, we left the pub and took a walk down to Wandsworth Park and spent the rest of the afternoon there.
A much better boat race compared to the rained out race of last year. Hopefully the start of what should be a good summer and plenty more afternoons in the park.
